penta agony auntPlease do whatever you can to get out of bed and get active. My mom (only 60) was let go (after getting good reviews). She got depressed and stopped leaving the house. She started "borrowing" from her retirement to live on (too young to do that without financial penalty) until she had nothing. She didn't tell my sister or me until she was already behind on payments. We had to go drag her out of her apartment, sell most of her stuff to pay bills, and she's now living with my sister, and is otherwise destitute. PLEASE seek help now. Get out of bed no matter how hard it is. Don't let this get worse.

BTW, below is a format for the best application cover letter EVER. And it's easy. It's for when you're applying for a job where you know the requirements:

Dear Sir or Madam:

I was pleased to see [job title] listed in the newspaper. As you can see from the below comparison [make a chart], I am well qualified for this position:

YOUR REQUIREMENTS MY QUALIFICATIONS

*from job post *list from your resume

*from job post *list from your resume

I am excited at the prospect of working for [company].

Thank you,

[sign]

The thing about cover letters is that a potential employer has to dive into so many from so many people to find the few people to interview, and all they want to know is do you have the qualifications. By putting them into a chart form, you are making it really easy to see it (they can scan it rather than read it).

And if you have 50% of the qualifications they're asking for, apply. They're looking for some god and will settle for some human.

Good luck hon.

Clarey agony auntHello. I have felt like you and I am the same age as you. My doctor told me to go on moodgym (online) and it has helped me out of my depression, which was quite severe. It is really interesting as well. Have a go, in your pyjamas!

smeedle agony auntI got made redundant two years ago from a job as a manager for a big housing association, I loved the job and had been with them 22 years, I did see myself retiring from this post.

I felt as if I had suffered a bereavment and in effect that is what it is, you have friends in your job and you have routine, stability and are comfortable within the role that you do. You have financial security and respect.

Then one day you wake up on the monday morning and have nowhere to go, money worries, no direction and then you can start to get depressed and loose direction and purpose which is the stage sadly you are at now.

I was lucky I already had a new job lined up, it was a change in direction and something that i had not done before, same type of work just different client group and lower paid, longer hours and harder more challenging work.

But I enjoyed the challenge and after a year I got a job back with the client group I like working with and at a much more senior level with less hours, more hols and more pay.

Our life follows certain paths at certain times, this in the long run will make you stronger and more focused, currently you struggle to get out of bed but soon you will get sick of this and take hold of your life again and make things happen.

You are suffering some form or mild depression and will need to have a chat to your GP.

You need to set a date for when you are going to stop wallowing and start doing. put date on callender and get up early that moring and go hunting for work, join an agency if possible as then you will sample lots of work in your field with lots of companies and before long your life will be back on track.

If you have money problems you need to go to CAB and they will help you with these.

It does all get better believe me. Make it happen!!
