writes:Hi, I'm a really confused chic at the moment!! I work with my best friend, we didn’t know each other until I started working there and we hated each other, now we are like best friends. We have dinner together every time we can and get on well. We are the same age (18) and she goes out with a guy that she has been for two years who is 20. He cheated on her this time last year and we got really close, texting all the time, talking on the phone more and I was there for her as a good friend and it made us closer in the long run. She is higher than me at work and lets me get away with murder!!! Recently people have seen us together and things have been said about how much time we spend together. Usually she needs me to help her with something and people criticise saying we’re not doing anything. Or people question what we are doing. She always touches my arm and gets close whenever we walk our hands always end up touching. She always shuts the door away from others so its just us whenever we are at work and she laughs at everything I say! She told me the other day how im 10 times better than this guy we know and I know im reading too much into this but I cant stop thinking about her. Its only really been the last 24 hours, obviously I have thought of it before but now im questioning on whether I didn’t realise it. I do like her but I have never thought I had a chance (still don’t lol) but we go out for lunch and people say are you together? Then this one time the woman serving was like “no I don’t mean like are you together but just having lunch together” and my friend (now known as n) laughed and that was it and I just stood there. That has happened twice now which is worrying! I was talking to someone else I work with who asked for my number and I told N about it and she asked if I was trading her in and said 3 is a crowd. Then she didn’t want to speak to me after that (she was only messing!). She said I wouldn’t get any treats anymore and the other girl I was talking to said she didn’t want to know what we got up too and again she laughed it off and never denied anything. What is going on? And what can I do? Please help, sorry I gabbered on a lot but my brain cant work properly cos she is on it!!! Thanks x

reader, anonymous, writes (7 September 2007): hi hun, im also relly confused by this! am i right in thinking you are a lesbian/bi-sexual? sounds like your friend is just the touchy feely flirty type. Its not clear if she knows about your sexuality(if you are gay) if she does then she might be wanting more but the only way to find out is ask her, but be subtle , you dont want to crash and burn. Im gay and alot of my straight friends are flirty with me, i dont think half of them realise what they're doing, so ive got to be very careful what i read into situations. keep us posted x

 Well im trying to see what you are feeling. Are you mad because she was messing around with you by saying she didnt want to talk to you? Are you thinking your guys migth have more then just a friendship going but after that you dont know? I got a bit confused. To be honest many girls prefer girls as better pals, not all but many i have found. Anything could be going on she just sees you as a friend no more, she is havinga moment in life with something going on in life. To help just ask her what is going on and horse everything is.Best of luck
