Just a quick little question, I recently started taking the pill and I take it every morning. The doctor told me to try and take it at the same time every day and I try very hard to do that but sometimes I remember straight away and take it at about 8am and sometimes I forget and end up taking it about 11 or 12. The leaflet inside the box said that taking the pill at irregular times can lead to "spotting" (bleeding slightly when not on your period) and I was wondering if I need to be more careful with making sure I take it at the same time every day or if the time only has to be roughly the same, give or take a few hours? Thanks :) xxx

Perhaps your brand of the pill is different, but I was told with the one I used to talk that if you dont take it at the same time everyday it will reduce its effectiveness at protecting you from pregnancy. So yes it is VERY important to take it at the same time each day. I too had trouble at remembering to take it. Especially when you get up at different times each day nd go to bed at different times, its hard to find a set time to take it.

My suggestion to you is to go back to your doctor and ask to switch to adifferent brand of pill. There are heaps of different brands! The first brand my doctor put me on was one which you had to take at a set time, but I went back and she changed me to a different one where you didnt have to take it at the same time. She said she put me on the other one first because its waht they usualy put first time pill takers on.

So yes go visit your doctor again. You really want your pill to be as effective as it can be dont u?

It's best not to change the time as I didn't have spotting I have full length period twice as much as you supposed to and also not taking them at the same day can lead to becoming slacker and slacker and taking them willy nilly, I was bad with taking the pill and I have become pregnant again for the second time by not taking them correctly but not to say of course they're happy mistakes that once they happened I wouldn't change for he world. Lets just say that I'm going to consider a different form of contraception next year. Just try to be as accurate as pos!

Good luck, take care.
