I am graduating from high school this and I want to keep in contact with my former english teacher. I want to keep in contact with him because he was a great help and over the years we have developed a friendship. How do I approach him and what do I say?

well thats perfect!im glad you could figure this out and move on your life and not have to stress out about this bcuz this is a very tricky question.well i hope everything goes well and have you talk to him yet?im really intrested in what happens.i did the same thing with a couple of my old teachers and it a friendship that i have cherished over the years and well worthed asking their email.most are more than happy that you wanna stay in touch.good luck honey!

Thanks to all the advice, its really good. I want to keep in contact by email only. Also this teacher does not teach me anymore.

What type of contact did you intend? A casual e-mail from time to time? Then ask him that. I'd advice to not add him on facebook or places of that kind. Maybe you could do the old fashioned way and write letters, if he's into that. I think it could be a good idea to first determine what type of contact you want with your teacher, and then ask him if that would be ok. Because then you're asking for something specific and not leaving it for anyone to question your intentions.

You approach him and tell him just that, honestly and openly.

You might explain to him that you know all about teenage crushes and the obligations of a schoolteacher, but are of the opinion that your ongoing contact is not going to compromise him and hope he appreciates the true sentiments behind your request.

i would wait until class is over and go up to him and tell him what a big role he played in ur life and he is such a great role model and u would love go keep in touch and give him ur email address.i think a phone number is a little over board and ppl might talk so i feel email is best way to go.tell us what u do and how it went honey.good luck
