writes:I have a huge crush on my best guy friend. I am usually the one who texts first, but he always replies almost immediately. He will sometimes text first and sometimes calls. Many of his responses are short, but he keeps the convo going and I'm usually the one who leaves the texts hanging to end the convo. I know I could wait a few days and see if he texts me, but usually I'm the one with something to say. I keep my texts playful and we rarely have a conversation like we would in person. Usually it's just friendly jokes back and forth NEVER a Hey, what's up text. My question I guess is it O.K. to be the one who keeps texting 1st and what can I make out of his lightning fast replies even if they are short.

reader, anonymous, writes (15 April 2010): THe same thing happend with me and my partner. I was always the one to text forst but once I did he would keep the conversation going and it was usually him who was the last to text.
Obviously, this was right at the beginning before we even started to date, when we were just flirting. Many months later, when we had become serious I asked him about this. Turns out he would wait eagerly for my text but would be a bit shy about texting first.
So I say, keep texting! :-) It doesn't matter if you are the first of if he is, as long as both of you want to text each other and its a lot of fun then keep doing it!

 hmm you kno this is a good question i wish i had the answer but i kno exactly where your coming from.
My guess is he likes you he cares about you but he doesn't think of you the way you think of him he answers you back quickly because hes probably on the phone anyway.
in my situation its always some other guy that shes crazy about but im a good friend so yeah she txt me back.
If you like this guy go for it what do you have to loose, i suggest not being to agressive, you could ask him something like do you think im pretty that line is pretty powerful. you could just say thanks and when he says what just say for being your friend.
So my thinking is theres probably someone else he thinks of you as just a friend he probably doesnt even think you like him.
