I took the 'morning-after-pill' but it's been a while and my period still hasn't arrived! I'm beginning to worry!

My last period started on Dec 23rd. My boyfriend and I use a condom and had one split on us over New Year weekend. I took the levonelle morning after pill within 16 hrs and about 10 days later I had some spotting for 4 days, it wasn't heavy enough for me to think of it as a period though but i did need to use a towel. I'm now still waiting for my period having expected it around the 23rd. I understand the morning after pill can make you late and I have done 3 pregnancy tests that have all been negative but how long should I leave it if I don't get my period soon. Any advice or thoughts on what my body is doing would be very helpfull as I'm now waiting to start the pill to avoid this happening again!

Panic over, I rang the Dr and she said not to worry the bleeding i had had was probably a light period and to leave it a few days, Then on Monday my period started. It's fairly heavy but peace and harmony has been restored to my body!!! Thanks everyone for the advice!

The best thing to do is to go to your doctors as soon as possible and see exactly what is happening. Explain to them the same as you have told us. They will help. Take care

willywombat agony auntGo see your GP, good idea to sort an appointment now. As CD says this medication can mess up your menstrual cycle a fair bit. But get your mind put at rest and get yourself an appointment.

cd206 agony auntWhen you got the morning after pill, whether you got it from the pharmacist or the doctor they should have told you that levonelle often delays your next period. I'm no expert as I only have an over the counter medicines certificate but I think I remember that you should see the doctor if your period is more than two weeks late so give it another week and then see your doctor if you're still concerned.
