I think my ex has a brother I was never told about. I want to know for my son's sake. I don't want to upset anyone, so what should I do?

A female United Kingdom, anonymous writes:

I was looking into my ex husband's family tree for my son. I found a photograph of a teenage boy with the exact same surname as my ex husband and looking like him exactly. The looks are very distinctive and singular.

My son thought it was his Dad when I showed him the picture. The boy lives in the area where my ex husband's father left for and lives now, when he and his mother got divorced. He is also a runner and sportsman like my ex (so was his father).

There has been no contact for years because of ill feeling. Not a little ill feeling, a whole pile of it. I think my ex husband may have a half brother and my son may have an uncle that nobody knows a thing about.

What on earth am I to do with the information? Most people say nothing because it is none of my business and if my ex wanted to know he would have done something about it himself. Frankly I can't stand people who hold grudges and I don't like my son being in the dark, or keeping dirty secrets. I don't want to upset him either, or open a bees nest.

AskEve agony auntAre you positive this isn't a picture of your ex husband that you just haven't seen? Was there a different christian name to the picture? If you want to get to the bottom of it then you'll need to ask your ex husband or one of his family, plain and simple.

Ponungalungb agony auntIs it possible that the photo is one of your ex-husband when he was younger?

I wouldn't make a big deal out of it, one way or the other.
