you are not gay, 100% sure. You are not in love with your friend, it's a confusing feeling of admiration for his qualities, hiden desire of being like him, your likness for his goodness as a friend. Is normal for a man to like the physical features of other man, like the woman when she recognized the beuty of a movie star female, or a man when wish to look like his favorite movie star male. Is lovable to love somebody of the same sex because we like all what he or she says or does; and, generally other people in his or her circle also like him or her, so, it's not that you are in love with him but just the reaction of being in the company of a great person. Please don't loose his friendship you are very fortunate having a friend like him.

Embrace your sexuality, whatever form it comes in. (Obviously not if it involves harming or taking advantage of others)
There is still a lot of stigma around any sexuality that is not straight unfortunately. But you have as much right as anyone else to fully be yourself. Don't let ignorant people bully you into giving up an intrinsic part of yourself.
