I like one of my friends! How can I tell if he likes me too?

Ok so here's the deal I'm 19 and never been on a date or had a boy friend. I'm kinda a keep to myself kinda person and really shy. Well I have this friend and him and I have been best friends for like the past 13 or 14 years and for the past 3 years I have liked him as more then a friend he's a great friend and he's like everyones friend never says anything mean about anyone and a real gentelman. But my problem is how can I find out if he likes me too without telling him that I like him more then a friend???????????????
