A female United Kingdom age 26-29, anonymous writes:

Hi i am 15 years old and have a problem. I really really like this guy. I have known him quite a while and was friends with him but then we kind of drifted apart. Now we don't talk or make eye contact and it is tense between us. I know he liked me a few years ago but don't know if he still does. He is quite shy and so am I. I know he would only ask me out either by text or msn but i don't have his number or email adress. I am too scared to talk to him, what should I do? Please help me!!!

A male reader, rduITduo United States +, writes (1 February 2007):

Look for reasons to start a conversation with him. Are you sure you have a pencil for your math test? *hint* *hint*

Open him up to conversation, then lead it on for a few weeks. Guys always want to help girls out, just don't abuse it. A sheet of paper, a pencil, picking up some books you've dropped, all great (and non abusive) ways to open the door and let a guy get up some courage.

Or be bold, ask him out! "I'm really wanting to go to the movies on Friday night and get away from the 'rents. Want to join me?"

It's not a date, just don't have a lot of expectations. Guys can be slow sometimes. And don't put a lot of meaning into anything, just have fun, and be encouraging.
