A female United States age 30-35, anonymous writes:

My school's Prom is April 28th. I know who I would like to ask, but I don't even know if he likes me or if he already has a date. I'm worried that no one will ask me and I'll be dateless for Prom. Should I wait for him to ask? Or, should I ask him instead?

A female reader, anonymous, writes (4 April 2007):

Ask him. After all, he might be too shy to ask you just in case of rejection. Imagine if you didn't ask him and he didn't ask you and then at the prom you both wanted to go with each other but didn't have the confidence to ask each other and both ended up being dateless. So go for it, ask him. If he says yes, that he will go with you then great but if he rejects you or already has a date then just say 'oh well, never mind, it doesn't really matter anyway' so that he can see that you aren't going to be upset over it.

cd206 agony auntAsk him! It's the 21st century. We don't need to wait for guys to ask us out anymore. And think about it, the very worst thing that could happen is that he'll say no which will mean you're embarassed for a few seconds but then you get over it and if he says yes you have your dream date.
