This is the only site I trust, and honestly the only one I know of that can answer my questions. This is different. It's about my future career. I'm sorry if this is too out of context, but I need to know.

I'm in high school, and know I need to start planning for a career, and that's exactly what I'm doing. I've chosen the field of Electronic Music (you know, dubstep, techno.) And I don't know how to start this career.

I want to be a producer/artist, but I don't know what to do first. I don't know where to find equipment, and have no money. I will be getting a job when I am 16 (next year, assuming my grades hold up) and all I want is to make music.

How do I start off this career? I seem addicted to this music, and want to make the music I want to hear. Any advice on how to launch this career? I have not taken band of any kind, by the way.

I know this is different, but I know this is what I want to do. There is a lot of music in this industry, and it is hard to get promoted, but there is also tons of money in it, even though I'm not after fame and money. I am just wanting to pursue my dream of making Electronic Music.

Honeypie agony auntIf you are good at it, you can do what MANY young people have done - POST your music on YouTube.

Check out YouTube for other people who are already doing what you want to do, TALK to them, some might give you an idea of what you need.

Look for USED items (keyboard, mixer, whatever else you might need) you don't have to start out with the state of the art systems and instruments.

Learn to read and write music. Lots of musicians don't have that skill and still make it, but those that DO have it a little easier.

TALK to your teachers too. A music teacher can perhaps give you some ideas as well, there is a reason he/she is teaching.

olderthandirt agony auntMy advice is to find a company that is doing what you want to do, or is at least in the business, like a recording studio and ask if you could be an intern there. there is no pay for an intern but at least you'll get to see the inside of the business and learn the trade. Make sure you inform them you'll work hard for no pay. Once inside learn all you can about the way things work.
