A female United Kingdom age 36-40, anonymous writes:

hi guys,

Just a quick one really. I kissed my female friend when out as a joke. Does this consitute as cheating?

I've never thought about it before until the topic popped up on TV. I have zero interest in girls and have never been sexual with one. I have never felt guilt about it, but now im beginning to wonder... did I cheat? I've been with my boyfriend for 5 years and I feel no urge to ever be with anyone else. I've always frowned upon cheaters, and I don't want to be one!

Honeypie agony auntNah, it was a joke. However, next time think first. Consider your actions. If you can do it in front of your BF (kiss a girl, how very Katy Perry of you lol) and he is OK with it, I wouldn't consider it cheating.

Was the other girl joking too? If not, you can end up with a big mess.

Nahh, guys like that kind of stuff. Take it from someone who's bf has been trying to get her to have one.

A male reader, idoneitagain Australia +, writes (14 March 2012):

No, you did not cheat because you kissed your friend with innocent intentions. You were not seeking sexual fulfillment from it, it was a joke. Try to not be hard on yourself or make yourself feel guilty for something you did with no bad intent towards your partner.

However, it is important to remember that in a relationship, what constitutes cheating is determined by you and your partner, it isn't just your opinion that counts. If your partner considers this kind of thing cheating, he would be entitled to his opinion, and would be entitled to feel like you cheated even if your opinion differs from his.

If you arent sure, its a good idea to speak to him about this so you are clear as to what is acceptable and unacceptable in the relationship.
