I hit my girlfriend's brother in the face during a game of cricket and now she wont speak to me! Is she blowing this out of proportion?

A male Pakistan age 36-40, anonymous writes:

10 days back, while playing game of Cricket , I hit my girlfriend’s brother in the face. Before that , he hit me for two long hits "Six Runs hit" which I couldn’t digest and bowled the next delivery with my full force, the ball took off from good length and it hit him in the right face, leaving him in a big pain and his right face got converted into red scare. I didn’t go to him to offer him any help and in fact enjoyed standing on bowling side of pitch thinking I had my revenge taken now. In the next over, since he was scared, I got him and went for a massive celebration and said English slang "Fuck Off" to him while he was going back to dressing room. Afterwards, our team won the game.

Worst thing, I didn’t notice that my girlfriend arrived at the ground and noticed that drama unfolding in front of her and her weird expressions making it obvious something nasty coming my way. Same night, she met me and blasted me like hell, calling me animal who has no mercy , enjoys other pains and she saw my real brutal face now. She said if I love her , then how come I could be so cruel to her blood relations? I explained to her that in sports one has to be competitive and I always play hard no matter who is on the other side. Since last weekend, she has been avoiding my calls and SMS. How come she calls me animal and stuffs? Since I love her like crazy and in the last two years I didn’t have any fight with her or misbehaved with her for a single moment. Don’t you guys think she is blowing this up out of proportion which doesn't make sense? Even I met her brother and I told him it happened in the heat of moment and he seems to have forgiven me but not yet her sister. I love her like crazy and want her back. What should I do now? Please Dear Cupid help me. Thank you!

Gabrielle Stoker agony auntI understand from my friends that cricket is not, ordinarily, a contact sport.

You have confessed yourself that you not only did what you did on purpose but also enjoyed doing it.

So really this is in no way a sporting incident. It does show a rather cruel streak which your girlfriend is justifiably apprehensive about. You will have to show her you're genuinely sorry and maybe try to make it up to the brother somehow. Getting hit for a "six" (something like a home run, I suppose) cannot justify a retaliation. Rather unprofessional behavior, too.

angelDlite agony auntNormally I would take your side and advise your girlfriend to stop being silly. Injuries are common in sport but no, u sound as if you thoroughly enjoyed this 'accident' and it has made her see you have a cruel streak. All u can do is try to make her believe u are really sorry and next time u want to get revenge on someone at least be upfront about it. Don't try to disguise it as a sporting accident
