hey

im really depressed in life at the moment

i have just started college and am working so i am constantly tired.

my boyfriend has just gone back to uni and i wont be seeing him in a while. also his best mate commented his facebook a couple of hours ago telling him to use protection, which is also making me depressed.

also, my dad and i have been talking over the phone recently and i havent seen him in like 3 years or phoned him in like 2, and its really depressing me.

also i keep thinking about my mum a lot, she died when i was 5 of cancer

all these things are making me so depressed.

i've even started smoking because of it, although my family doesnt know this.

i cant speak to my family as they will just think im silly, and my friends dont really understand.

i just dont know what to do!!

does any one have any suggestions to help with depression, any comments would be great

thanks

xxx

Aunty Em agony auntDazzerg is right, I think.

One point in your post that struck me is that if you told your family - they'd think you were silly. I know how that feels. It's as if they'd tell you to calm down, or you're over reacting.

Pft!

Dazzerg agony auntI think there are loads of different issues here so lets tackle them one at a time.

1) You are burning yourself out with the work. Make time for yourself, for rest breaks and to recharge your batteries. These are just as neccessary as actually doing the work because if you are burnt out your work suffers.

2) Do you trust your bf? What you say here say here kind of suggests not.

3)At least you are talking now. I am sure the lack of contact wasnt your fault.

4) Did you ever have grief counselling? Here is something you might well benefit from talking to your dad about. Cant help thinking 3 and 4 are connected.

You need somebody to talk to and you need to get proper rest and you need to vent the feelings you are having about all the things that are going wrong in your life. Good luck :)

I think your family will understand more than you think.

Plus it's getting cold and grey now so that will affect your mood.

Is there any way you can cut your hours at work? Or give it up? You are entitled to EMA £30 a week to cover lunch and bus faire to college.

Just try telling someone you are really fed up with everything. You probably only need to let it all out to someone and you'll feel better. I bet you felt a little bit better after typing it all out here!

Start a diary or a blog so you can have a moan about every thing and get it out.

Find a way to get it out of your system. Also try getting some exercise, because a really good 10 minute session will get your heart going and release endorphins which are the hormones that make you feel pumped up and happy.

Even a good session playing with the dog would help if you have one.

Good Luck!! xx
