A female Philippines age 26-29, *onfused... writes:

hello please help me, I feel so lost and downright now

to start with I'm very stressed about college because all my other peers have graduated and I haven't yet for reasons and I keep seeing them posting about how happy they are and how they've achieved such a milestone, and I feel so worthless because I'm not at that point yet and won't be for 2+ years, I'm afraid of growing old in college and not achieving anything and being a burden to my parents, I try my best in school but sometimes I feel like it's never enough, for my teachers, for my parents, for everyone. also it was my mom's bday today and everything was going so well, until I realized happy moments like these won't be forever because eventually everyone I love and care for will leave or die. I feel like I'm not supposed to be happy and my life is just predisposed to be of sadness.

A female reader, aunt honesty Ireland +, writes (5 April 2017):

aunt honesty agony auntEverybody looses loved ones in their life not just you, enjoy the moment and don't wonder about what is going to happen in the future. You could go out and get hit by a car tomorrow get killed and what would all that worrying have done for you?

So you are still at college, good for you. That is an achievement itself, not everyone has the option to get a good education so count yourself lucky. Live your life you are only young, don't throw it away by being negative and down on yourself.

malvern agony auntCollege is just a short time in your life. Before you know it you too will have graduated so don't keep comparing yourself to everybody else who has finished the course. Everybody else in your life is not going to suddenly leave or die. All of us have to move on in life, and some of us die, but these things happen gradually over many years. I think you are just panicking and have got yourself into a bit of a rut about it. You need to surround yourself with friends and family and try to enjoy yourself. You need to find yourself something to do and perhaps take up some sort of hobby or interest. You are just going through a phase of uncertainty and that's not unusual at your age. Just keep going with your college course and try to plan doing some things that you enjoy.

A female reader, anonymous, writes (27 March 2017):

You are looking down on yourself at only 25!

You have years ahead of you to realise your potential.

Its not unusual to feel a sadness and poignancy that life changes and we loose people we love.

Dont forget we also have the power to create people we love.

Getting pregnant and having a baby is a monumental event because we value a new life so highly, so try to see yourself on a universal pathway rather than a deadend cycle.

Of course not everyone wants kids but there are a million ways to be useful and millions of unloved neglected children trapped in orphanages.

If you get police clearance you can volunteer to work with these innocent children who are the victims of circumstances beyond their control.

Also a dog or cat make companionship and laughter part of your life and their loyalty is uncompromising.

You have the potential to finish your studies and continue joyfully with your life so dont burden yourself with unnecessary worries!
