Dear cupid

In March of this year I received a message from this young irish man saying ''i love your looks, i love your smile and I love your style'' we built up from that to talking about each others work lives, home life and personality, he shared poems, created some lovely digital images of me on for example a new york sign, he sent me photos from his business trips, he said that he had a strained relationship with his brothers and sisters only got on well with his mum and said that among all the weirdos I am extra special and worth his attention. He felt threatended by a male colleague flirting with me telling me to tell him that a mad irishman wants me if he starts again. At one point he mentioned a business trip to Graz and how he could fly via Manchester and visit me before he claimed to have his online account and one of his emails hacked into by his brother and I left him to sort out putting a virus in his brothers computer and shutting it down so he could regain control. This was in May and he has not been online since. He didn't give me a contact number or skype as said it is easy to hack into mobile apps and skype. I have tried so hard to forget about him but when I look at his photos i feel attraction and surely for anyone to send me such lovely things (Poems and digital images) and to tell me about their life is worth waiting for? Any advice appreciated

No he is not worth waiting for.

You were just a bit of banter for him with his gift of the blarney and im just glad that you didnt give him your bank account details as well just because he's goodlooking.

It all means nothing.

He had family around him and probably a girlfriend in the real world.

He came to his senses in time to realise that it was wrong to keep leading you on, so he has correctly cut contact on the explicit understanding that you would get the message.

You see guys are like dogs in that they like food, fluid and a good bit ofcompany. And guys move on, just living in the present.

They expect women /gals to understand that when the contact is over then the whole thing is over.

They dont stop to explain" Well i was seeing marjie but she was doing late shifts and i got a bit lonely and fed up of watching porn so i started talking to you.And your a really nice gal, the romantic sort that i like...but then marjie changed her shifts because she thought i was having an afffair so i just went back to spending the evenings shagging her...and it just didnt seem right to contact you and share this info ,in case you were hurt,so i stopped everything with you and juzt moved on with marji who happily got pregnant and we're expecting twins and so im working all the hours God and the bosses send because we want to make the spare room into a nursery and begorra this baby stuff is expensive!"

Gals/ women are quite different and pine long after the guy has gone, but the guy doesnt want you to pine.

He wants you to move on and find happiness with someone else!

A male reader, no nonsense Aidan United Kingdom +, writes (24 October 2015):

One thing I’ve learned about the online realm is that it’s particularly brutal. I don’t know why but it does seem to make people behave very differently towards each other. What can feel like deep and meaningful connections that become very intense, can develop very quickly but you can be dropped very quickly as well. You’ve been unceremoniously dropped I’m afraid, so its time to stop looking at the photos and accept that it was a brief friendship that’s now come to an end. I’m very suspicious of his excuses anyway: what does your email being hacked have to do with your ability to buy a flight? All he had to do to regain control was change his passwords; the business with the brother’s computer sounds like a load of nonsense to me. I think this man might have a complicated situation in his life, or he might be a chancer that gets easily bored, but whatever the case it sounds like he was a flake anyway who would have let you down sooner or later.

I wish you all the very best.
