Hey guys getting straight to the story, I've been in a bad financial situation for some time now.

First off, I am In my mid 20's and I have big student loans and some other debt, like lots of people. My problem is I seem to be really struggling, and none of my family can help me out because they're struggling as well (not that I expect them to help, just wanted to state that).

My job has gone downhill pretty fast and my hours were cut significantly, so I had to pick up a second job, and I'm still struggling to pay my things. Like 75% of my income goes to payments/bills, food, etc, not even including rent because I live with my mom, who also struggles with her job and money.

My job market has become satires over the past couple of years in basically all of my state from what I hear from everyone.

I don't know how young people make it unless they have a very very good paying job, or they're getting help from their family/spouse.

I unfortunately don't have those things going for me at the moment.

I've got my student loan payments down as much as they can let me. I've tried to figure out ways to cut costs and live cheaper, has only helped a little.

There has been times where I don't even have $20 to get gasoline.

I don't want to sound like I'm whining, but I wake up everyday totally stressed out. I mean you have to have money to live right? What is someone like me suppose to do? Thanks in advance for helping.

Honeypie agony auntHave you sat down and made a budget?

Like food, internet, phone, car payments, car insurance, cable, utilities and so forth?

If not, get to it.

Then LOOK at each item and see where you ca cut down. Like you phone... you can post on DC with your phone, which means you do not have a cheap phone/contract, am I right?

Maybe look into a pay as you go (some companies will buy out your contract and allow you to go with the pay as you go. Then you set a max amount pr. month for that. Personally, I use a $40 a month deal, with unlimited talk and text (no data) I don't NEED the data.

When we had high bills, we cut off the cable. We cut off the "expensive" phone contracts and we cut out eating out (not even a Starbucks coffee).

Then you LOOK for jobs that pay better, even if it's NOT your usual job market. Paying off your loan Is very important, so don't stop doing that. Same with car insurance.

What car do you have and what kind of payments? Maybe you bought a car you can't entirely afford? ( I know my niece did that because she thought the car was "pretty" - my BIL helped her get a cheaper car, which also lowered her insurance.

Honestly, I don't know how young people do it either (at least no in the US) wages are so low and rent is so high.

hello friend, you have just joined with the rest of the world..the truth is life is a bottleneck scenario, where only some get to the top , and onlysome get the opportunities.

Congratulations on getting educated , and this means you will often be able to accurately assess a situation and you will have the means to find the answers.

It sounds to me as if mum has struggled but managed to produce one very smart cookie so i think that is a plus on her side. Paying your student loan off slowly is another good move.

Paying your bills is also smart but you must find ways too keep the food coming in...so perhaps you can stretch your budget or rotate your bills. Keep your creative mind open and keep your self respect.

Far too much of life is about the rise and fall of individuals..there will be plenty sitting in jail wishing they had not opted forfast money, fast fall.

Make backup plans now in case jobs dry up..you are young enough to consider the world is your oyster...good luck..dont give up...maybe a writing course..for short stories.
