I would like to swap lives with someone. I'm unhappy with the life I have, yet I know I should be happy because I've got my health, both parents still happily married, a university place at Manchester, and I'm going away travelling.

Yet I have nothing to smile about. A lot of people like me, but I only have a small handful of friends. Everyone else seems to be doing better than me in all areas in life (relationships, education, frienship etc.). And to top it off, I can't cry about it as both my parents say men don't cry about their problems.

Part of me thinks it's because I'm going to Australia for 3 months in 1 week, but I'm not sure.

Can anyone help. As no-one wants to be around an unhappy person (I usually cover up the depression when around people

Babes, you should not hide your feelings! Talk to someone. If you feel that you can't cry around your family, talk to someone seperate. Men are alowed to cry, and i personally think it makes Men bigger if they are not afraid to show what they feel. I have deep sympathy for you and hope that you overcome this difficult stage in your life. View your few months in Australia as a time for you to find out who you are and who you want to be. It could be the break that you need.

But, honey, you MUST talk to someone as if you don't, it won't go away, it will just get worse.

I know this probably wont help you right now, but times will get better, and the more you learn to listen to and respect what your body is telling you- that somehting is not right- the more quickly you'll get over this stage.

All the best,

xxx

my advice to you is to open up and talk to those close to you about what your problem is before it is too late you dont want to start isolateing yourself and pushing everyone away my boyfriend is just like this and it is starting to get to me a bit it's not too late but dont leave it. you seam to have a life that many would only be able to dream of and it's allways better to have a handfull of friends than it is to have tones or none at all keep your chin up and keep looking to the future and talk about anny problems you may have and i'm sure that things will start to make sence to you all the best x
