A female , anonymous writes:

I broke my phone this week and unfortunately I lost quite a few numbers on it. I text my husband's friend and asked him to text me a one word answer just to confirm I had got his correct mobile number. We get on well and we have a laugh together but I must admit that I was just expecting to reply yes to me. His reply was 'stiffy'. I must admit I did laugh when I read it but thought it was a bit naughty of him saying that.

If your male or female friend (we are talking of age 30s+) sent that sort of text would you be a little shocked or just accept that is the way they reply to things.

The Realist agony auntI think it was just for a shock joke kind of thing. I find it a little funny but wouldn't think much of it if it was only that one message. Some people (I am one of them) like to do a joke when they are set up like that. It's in harmless fun.

Honeypie agony auntI would ignore it and move on. Most likely it was done with a sense of humor. I wouldn't read more into it then that. personally.

Maybe he fancies himself as funny, or just wanted to give you a giggle. Ignore it for now. If sending texts with sexual undertones becomes a habit, they you might mention it to him; tell him it made you feel uncomfortable, etc. Otherwise, brush it off.
