 In CA based on performers who get tested, 66% of porn performers have herpes and 6% have HIV. It's a low estimate that 80% of porn performers have caught an STD at some point. Atm has caused e.coli infections both of the GI variety and also has been found in performer's throats and eyes. There is no safe way to ingest fecal matter. Because of the prevalence of facials some performers get gonorrea infections in their eyes. In CA only 2 out of the top 200 porn producers use condoms.
Anal sex isn't safe either. Many of the performers hate doing it as well but do it because they have to to remain employed. Once she became famous Jenna Jameson refused to ever do anal again. Anal sex has an even higher risk of infection because it often causes small tears along the rectum. Some performers get distended rectums from stretching it too much. They have to prepare for anal like they would for surgery, through fasting, enemas, and laxatives.
The porn industry is not safe by any stretch of the imagination, where did you get the idea it was?
If you're with a guy who wants to perform atm on you, you dump him. What kind of sick person would want to make their girlfriend eat feces other than one who enjoys humiliating and hurting her? If you don't enjoy anal, don't do it. Most women hate or dislike it (yes even many porn actresses).

 They do it without health risk by getting tested, and having their co-players tested as well, of course. That's the only way to do it safely. Now, I don't know if they do test all the time, but those who want to be safe will have to get tested.
They prep for anal sex by using anal sex toys, and just having a lot of anal sex so that their anus isn't as tight any longer (now this could actually be a health risk too).

The only true answer is - they don't. When a porn actress does a2m she is putting herself at risk. Whether the actresses know it or not depends on how gullible or astute they are... but even the ones who are well aware of it do it anyway because of the money.
As far as anal, some of the actresses can do that without pain and some even enjoy it. Others feel pain, but again they do it anyway for the money.
Porn is fake. You can't use it as a basis to compare to real sex.

There are numerous health risks, and you can easily read up on it...STD's run rampid within the porn industry....sounds so sexy and hot doesn't it??? If you are contimplating "copying" what you are seeing in porn, it just isn't like that when two real people are intimate, especially anal...that takes prep before hand (cleaning out their system and not eating anything to have to eliminate hours to the day before, at first stretching their butt hole open, lube on the guys penis and inside her ahead of time), unless you are comfortable with toilet matter being part of your love making. These women who are performing have worn those holes so wide, there is little effort to get a penis in...so if it's a first time, it just isn't going to be that way.Curiousity killed the cat...be careful and don't be gullible to what you are seeing in porn...kudos for asking :-)

reader, anonymous, writes (23 May 2012): They do have risks, google about it and you'll find just a portion of the actors and actresses who have caught HIV, and that's with very regular tests. They all get STI's too, that's why California have made the rule any porn filmed in their state must have the use condoms. Not that it stops anything as the companies just film elsewhere.

 The do it because they are paid to do it. I seriously doubt the companies who produces porn give a darn. They are however tested for STD's more often then your average person. But that doesn't mean they can't get sick,std's and so forth.
I don't even want to know how they "prep" for anal..

 How do u know porn actresses do things without risk..I work in a hospital and I have soo many young women coming in with syphillis,std's,gonorrhoea u ask their profession u'l get one answer 'porn star'..there involves a lot of risk,but some of them are willing to deal with this for money..!so it may look all nicee but in reality these girls deal with a lot..and its sad to watch!

 The reality is that there are health risks but the production companies who film it don't care and the girls want the money more than they value their health. If you eat faecal matter, you can get really sick and pick up all sorts of nasty diseases.
They prep for anal by having enemas, controlling their diet in the day or two beforehand (soups, mash potatoes, soft foods) and they work on stretching their anus with toys.
You already have a safe, lubricated, god-given hole which you can use to make love with. Leave the crazy butthole stuff to the pornstars and fantasists.
