It depends on who you’re texting and how well you know them. I have done it with a few girlfriends and it worked OK for me.

I think it's best to start with some texts and become increasingly flirty. I don't know what you should say exactly but just make it fairly obvious that you're flirting. I think it should just progress into something more explicit.
However if you know the person well just leap right into it, e.g. "I'm in bed naked, what would you do to me?"
