Well, I just need to know what to do with my current situation. For starters I'm 18 years old and want to go back to school.

But have important reasons why I can't to back for one I have no of,birth certificate.

Anything do it's like I don't exist (it's a long story I'd rather not get into).

Second off this is way off topic but my mother abandoned me at 16 but at the same time she was mentally sick (schizophrenia ) and my Dad is avoiding me and wants nothing more to do with me.

Since I turned 18 I live with my Aunt (mind you have a Lot of kids and grandkids and can barely help me herself.

My grandmother also wants nothing more to do with me.

This is my life at the moment. My dream is to go to collage and go to California and make it somewhere..but I don't see that happening any time soon.

Just to clear things up the place I'm staying at isn't really stable.

I just need advice..

Honeypie agony auntWere you born in America? Are your parents citizens? Were you born in a hospital? Did you go to public school? Do you have a SSN#?

If so, there is a birth certificate for you.

You can order a copy online (all you need for registering for school) If you still live in the City/State where you were born you can go down to the city hall (cheapest option) and request a copy. If not you can get one online - check your state of birth (aka google how to obtain birth-certificate XXstate)

Otherwise there are:

A female reader, anonymous, writes (19 November 2015):

well sweetheart you do need a lot of practical advice and you certainly have had a difficult start in life that is not your fault at all.

It must have been very difficult at times for you if your mother was/ is shizophrenic and it is of course no fault of your own.

Your not particularly clear about your grandmothers reasons but these kind of things happen as i have seen for myself.

As for your dad avoiding you, well that is not particularly fatherly at all.

So there you are still young and full of hopes and dreams.

That is of course the beauty of youth..you have hope and energy that others can only dream of.

Of course you can go to college.

It is a fantastic idea and you can apply without a birth certificate in the first instance, but as these things need to be properly sorted and you have every right to have a birth certificate i suggest you get one.

It is always possible to get a duplicate birth certificate just by applying and paying the money they require.

You normally apply to the country you live in by looking up 'birth records 'on line and then applying through the govt web site.

You give details of your name and when your birthday is/or assumed to be and your parents name or names.

If their are mega reasons like being kept hidden from the world and just managing to get normal freedom, then youphone adult social services and ask them to help you to move your life forward with a birth certificate.

It is a right to have one and not a privelege.

As you are seemi g to be in a tough place you could enquire at a police station as they have all kinds of records and should point you inthe right direction, even if you were born in prison.

Maybe others have even better ideas than me here but all i can say is to try to get to college and a happy place in your life and when you settle down and have children of your own dont forget to register them.

It is actually illegal to not register a birth within a given time.
