A female United States age 26-29, anonymous writes:

I am in a sticky situation. I've been at my job for a little over 6 months. I think I'm rather a good workers and me and the managers hit it off well.

The problem I'm having is with some of my co workers. I know it sounds juvenile but there are a few that are very rude to me. They seem like they go out of their way to be mean and bossy.

Instead of asking me to do something they rudely boss me around and get huge attitudes with me.

They talk to me as if I'm stupid and don't know how to do my job, meanwhile they are not above me and are not managers, they are just associate like me.

I have even overheard some co workers talk mean behind my back saying I don't do things that right, meanwhile the mangers say I'm doing fine.

I think unfortunately I'm in a bad job environment with mean people. I don't think I'm being treated right. It's not all the co workers just a few of them.

I'm not dumb and I'm so tired of being treated as if I was.

I just try to ignore it but deep down it does get to me. I don't know what to do anymore. How should I continue to handle this?

A female reader, anonymous, writes (27 April 2017):

Sometimes there is no magic formula!

If you are surrounded by jealous work colleagues and your life is miserable as a result you can start looking for another job with a better working environment!

You need to be respected at work and jealousy does not indicate respect but shows resentment.

People talking to you as if you are dumb is a form of undermining you because they know you are not used to it!

When they ask you to do something unnecessary you can ask them to write it down on your list and you will get to it later but better still keep your phone on record!

However it takes time to develop za thick skin so maybe you should think of moving on to a more friendly environment!

CoreMessage agony auntJust continue ignoring them and don't let it get to you. They're being childish and they're not worth your time.

But, if you want, anytime they ask you to do something and they do so bossily, pretend you haven't heard. If they cant use manners, they don't deserve it.

Just remember to keep a cool head. Don't get into unnecessary fights that don't need to happen
