My boyfriend abuses me verbally and phisically. I'm not happ with him because our comunication is aweful. I cannot disscuss ANYTHING with him. We're just too different and we're never going to work out. I know that the best thing is to break up. I want to, but i'm way to attached to him. How do I break up with after three years and three months without feeling really depressed???? I know I have to end this relationship before something really bad happens. I already have scars in my body that I don't think they'll ever go away, so I know breaking up is the right thing. I want to get over him quickly. When I get too depressed I can't even get out of bed and go to work just like today. Please help!

Breaking up is never easy!! If you are living with him Just do it when he's not there, yeah ok maybe a bit of a cowards way out but it avoids confrontation with him!! But packing your bags, walking out that door without EVER looking back will be the hardest and most important life changing decision you will ever do! Stay with him and you might never walk out alive!!!

I'm sorry to be so blunt but thats just the reality of it! I've read and seen so many stories just like yours where they end in tragic endings!!! First thing you do is change your mobile number, give it ONLY to those that you know you can trust, that won't give it to him!!

No man has the right to raise his hand to anyone!! Only cowards and bullies do it cos they can get away with it (or at least think they can) Its their way of thinking that they showing off their powers as a "real man" but just take that huge step of walking out with your head held high & proud knowing you are doin the right thing & that what happened was NEVER your fault!!!

Good luck girl... Let me know what happens x

David Lewis agony auntI completely agree with Keeleys excellent answer.

I think any guy who ever hits a girl can never be called a man. He has physically scarred you, but it is the emotional scars that will do the real damage. You NEED to get out of this relationship as soon as possible.

You will need your friends and family now more than ever, they will support you every way they can. I think you should tell the police about your situation, I feel you should do this, especially if you fear him. He will not be allowed anywhere near you.

You need people to talk to and help keep your mind off him, feel free to pm me anytime.

You say you will be depressed if you leave him, these feelings are normal hun. But, you can look back on this knowing that you never let him win. You will become much worse with depression the longer you stay with this loser.

Be strong, gather your pride and walk away. It will be the best thing you ever do.

Best of luck babe, xx

A female reader, Keeley +, writes (8 October 2006):

Keeley agony auntSweetheart stop OK!

No one has the right to abuse anyone and you should not allow this to happen to you you are a person not an object. Abusers are weak and cowards.

I dont know your circumstances but if you live with him you may want to have someone around when you tell him enough is enough and you want him out of your life forever AND DONT FORGET TO CHANGE THE LOCKS! so many people forget this little but important factor.

Be positive in all of this as if you are prone to depression it could trigger it off. Be responsible for taking care of you and hopefully this will see you through.

Ok we all know break ups are hard and it will take a while to get over things but keep busy and stay positive hang out with your friends shopping etc, dont take his calls cos he will probably try and make contact with you JUST TO A ABUSE YOU VERBALLY but show him that you are better off without him and prove to him what you can achieve things without him. Your not a weak person remember that.

Those days you feel depressed challenge it, get up and out of bed go to the shops buy a newspaper - take a walk in the park. Do something but whatever you do dont make him beat you on this, you have suffered enough with this man take some time out and then find someone that loves you for you.

You remember what past relationships where like how someone loves another person. Be there again.

I will be thinking of you but do something for me -everytime he tries or you feel the urge get back together remember your scars, remember the hurt and pain and then you will know what to do.

"if someone hits you it means they dont love you"

Good luck and keep us updated.
