 Well I don't know how "wide" you mean, but deep-throating can more easily be accomplished when your throat is extended and in-line with his erection. There are a few positions I know that allow this. My favorite is to stand next to the bed, while she assumes a doggie type position on the bed facing me.
For me, this has been best for the finish, allowing her to let me go deeper for final release. The position may be similarly achieved on the floor, or with you facing the end of a couch or sofa. Again, the idea is to allow a straighter throat angle and the release goes straight down. Variables are possible as well.
