Has anyone ever tried diet shakes with any sucess? Im at the end of my tether I have ALWAYS been slender and athletic but I have put on 20 kg in a year and cant budge it.

I have gone from full time work to full time study. I also broke my ankle and am still having physio and had glandular fever and chronic fatigue. I tried exercise and diet for 2 months but put on weight. I'm looking at either shakes or lipo as this is just s**t and I cant fit into my clothes. Nor can I afford new ones as im a full time student. If anyone mentiones diet or exercise ill scream!!!!

Sorry babes, diet and exercise is the only way to loose weight. You said you tried for two months, that is not very long, you have to be more determined than that. You say that you put on weight using exercise and diet, that doesn't mean you wasn't getting slimmer, because muscle weighs more than fat. Everyone needs a good diet and plenty of exercise, not just to look slimmer, but to become healthier and to live a longer life. It shouldn't be something you give up and stop, you must eat well and healthy and exercise for the rest of your life and you will feel great benefits, and will become stronger and healthier in no time at all... This shouldn't be a punishment babes, it must be part of a new lifestyle and a present to yourself. Country woman is right, that sometimes hypnotism can help. Paul Mckenna, has a range of books and tapes out that help you to "think yourself thin". You need to get into good habits, that's what he says, and think and act like slim people act. I have always worked on this principle, I don't diet, but I do try and live as healthy as I can...

PS: OK I lied, I'm overweight too, but I know that the only way to change it, is by living for health, eating healthy food and doing my exercise.... :^)

One of my friends tried it and it worked for her.In the morning try having lemon juice+hot water+honey on an empty stomach. The water should be bearably hot.As far as no diets or exercise no pain,no gain dear.Nothing is impossible. Its all in your will power. We have lots of Ayurvedic meds in India to lose weight. But that comes along with a very strict diet too.

TELLULAH agony auntThere is no easy way to lose weight. You could try diet shakes or herbal tablets, there are tons on the market. But I have to tell you that once you lose the weight and start eating normally you will pile the weight back on and more. Quite simply, the best way is carefull eating and excersise. I know you are screaming now, but sorry there is no other way.

Sweet-thing agony auntThere's no other way. It's all about cutting your calories (safely) and burning up the fat storage. You might try Nutri-Systems. I lost 25 lbs. a few years ago and didn't feel like I was shaking and weak while I was existing on 1000 calories a day. But the food is not terribly tasty. You really have to make up your mind to eat it three times a day and drink lots of water. It has more fiber in it than regular foods and after you're done with the program, you WILL need to change your eating habits permanently or you'll just gain it right back. Think smaller portions and limit sweets and fast foods. And I've found a little exercise goes a long ways. Good luck.

Country Woman agony auntWell I have tried all sorts of different things and yes shakes work for a while but when you return to normal eating you do end up gaining more weight than you have actually lost, it is a part time fix I guess.

So the exercise and diet things are not an option but healthy eating could be. Instead of choosing fatty foods i.e. crisps, chips or high fat contain food like cheese and spread try to cut back on these and also your carb intake. Cut back on the amount of bread and pasta you might eat.

I am currently trying to go with hypnotherapy as it is a lot cheaper than lipo and most things are down to your state of mind as I know my weight problem is comfort eating after my long term relationship ended and I lost my dad last year.

Getting your mind into a pattern of a thin person is what is needed, eventually gentle exercise such as swimming with help the ankle heal and it is not weight bearing but only when they recommend it. Walking as well will eventually help.

I got myself one of those lateral thigh trainers which are not expensive but it has remained in it's box most of the time so like most things they are OK but if you don't have someone saying to you OK let's do some exercise they are a waste of money.

You can buy the stomach belts and shorts which send electrical pulses through and you just sit there whilst they give the effect of sits ups without the work and they do tone the muscles but again they are not cheap to buy - about £100 in the UK.

Whatever you try to do it will cost you and shakes can get very expensive. Lipo would be several thousands so bear that in mind too.

Glandular fever takes a long time to get over and it will take you time, without monetary input you are going to find it hard and also your physical strength will take time to bounce back but if you do decide to go down the route of hypnotherapy this will also cost but will have a lasting effect believe me.

I need to go for another session and it is a true committment but you don't need loads of sessions, they say ideally 3 to start with and then maybe odd ones to keep yourself topped up so your mind is thinking like a thin person.

Good luck and keep us posted eh!
