DrPsych agony auntI had a baby two and a half years ago...I put on so much weight in the pregnancy I was waddling like a walrus. I had a c-section so didn't exercise after the birth, and then I hurt my back in an accident so that put the workout routine on hold. I left it a year and then went on a low-carb eating plan - I ate well but cut out the chocolate bars and the complex carbs for a while. It worked for me, I dropped back to my pre-pregnancy weight in about 5 months by slowly losing the excess baggage. My tummy is still a bit wobbly but nothing major as cutting carbs seemed to zap the middle bit quite quickly. Perhaps you should look at your diet and cut down on the carbohydrates for a while. But don't go on a major diet because it won't work and will make you feel miserable. It is about eating more fruit and veg, less bread and potatoes.

Odds agony auntShort of liposuction, that baby fat pretty much never goes away. Even then, there is some loose skin which will tend to sag.

The good news is that your husband still finds you sexy, and certainly wants you to wear a nice two-piece to the beach. He will count himself lucky, too, because most wives I know never bothered to lose any of the baby weight; you're already in the top 10% for that much. Now, if you've kept your hair long, he probably thinks he's the luckiest man alive.

A female reader, Moo's Mum New Zealand +, writes (11 July 2010):

Moo's Mum agony auntI know how you feel because I can't lose mine either! I have managed to get mine to the point where it is flat when I'm standing but the minute I even look like bending over it jelly's out over itself. I got it to flat on standing by cutting out all sugar from my diet and cutting out potatoes and limiting bread to 2 slices per day only. This was all hard work because when you have kids you generally have to spend half your day in the kitchen preparing food for kids who are ALWAYS hungry and that makes it bloody hard to stop eating yourself. I also did lots of crunches. Good luck doll you will get there eventually all us Mum's are there with you :-)
