Hi, this is my 1st time on this website and i'm asking for help...

I'm classed as obese (BMI = 31.2) and i don't want to be anymore. All i want to know is how can i get into the 'normal' weight section on BMI... i would prefer it to be fast as i start college in 3 months and would like to be out of the obese bracket. Does anyone have any tips of how i can loose this weight?

I know most people say this but i really don't seem to eat much... I think my major fault is that i don't eat breakfast. my lunch would be a sandwhich and a packet of crisps. Dinner / tea would be something like a cooked meal, for-instance chicken in a sauce with rice.

I think the root of my 'obese-ness' comes from when my parents split up and we moved away from my father, but i aint sure... I'm pretty much fed up with being 'obese' and i havn't had many relationships because of my weight and i want this to change, and it's making me unhappy. I'm practicly willing to do MOSTLY anything to get rid of it... (Except surgery, and all that crap)

Please can someone help... I want to be happy again

stay away from prepackaged food, (you can't live that way), the weight will always come back. the exception is the 5% or so of people who will continue on.

get a nutrionist, start eating fruit, veggies, nuts, beans etc. start an excerise program, and once you get your weight off, don't get too cocky and start bragging about how well you've done. god bless your endevour.

Minelisse agony auntI would go with taking up a sport and doing it daily.

There is an Internet site called Sparklepeople (or something of the sort). It's free and it is a community of people trying to loose weight. There you will find people within your age range and with common goals with which you can make liaisons and competitions. Take a look!

Great advice here from the other two.

I just want to direct you to a good website:

Here's a part that shows a study about weight training compared to aerobics for fat loss:

And here's a page with this quote:

"Weight training intensity also seems to be the key component for fat loss"

As a guy who has struggle with my own weight issues in life I can understand some of where you coming from. Some of the advice I would have is to eat 5-6 small meals a day. For example I eat oatmeal for breakfast, a protein shake, a pack of vitamins and supplements, and fruit of some kind. Then I go to work and eat again at about 1030 or about three hours after I ate breakfast, I eat a cup of yogurt, or a piece of fruit i.e apple or orange, For lunch at 1230 I eat a cup of soup or sandwich and a small bag of veggies or a piece of fruit or canned fruit cocktail in light syrup, A mid day snack at 330 or so when i start to get hungry again of fruit or veggies of some kind, After work I go right to gym and do some weights and cardio for about 1-1.5 hours, this is whats comfortable for me and it could be different for you.

I would say the biggest part of losing weight is finding a plan and sticking with it, what ever that may be if its eating a meal at a certain time or working out at a time just make it a routine and make it a habit.

It does not have to be a huge exercise either you can gradually build up to a comfortable level, the key is to get your heart rate up and body moving so that you burn more calories then you are taking in. Thats where the fruits and veggies come in handy they usually have low caloric counts and are alot better for you then fried food.

I have a problem with sweet things and I would cook cause I would be bored and hungry and it did not help, so now that i am active I don't sit and eat, and honestly the sweet things don't taste that good anymore.

All things in moderation don't just jump to a new thing but add new routines in gradually, as you and your body adjust.

It might be hard in college but if you can get a routine and stick with it in college it will help you keep off the weight better, I know I gained the weight in college and am now working it off.

Hope this helps sorry if its long winded.

I wish you the best on your health plan and life!!

I understand your reason for wanting to become more healthy but first you must be realistic and know that big changes don't occur overnight. To do what you want to do, it will take commitment and discipline. You must be serious about wanting to change your life.

First your diet...lay off the crips, sweets, and starchy foods. They will only work against your goal. I recommend going to www.GillianMckeith.com. There you will find good information of the foods that you should be eating.

Next is exercise. You should commit to working out everyday. The more physical your are the faster you will see results. However, you should start out slowly as to not shock your body. In the first week do something like 20 minutes of fast paced walking or running and then the next week add another 20 minutes...until you get to at least one hr. Try taking the stairs instead of the lift and also walking to places that you can instead of taking some sort of transportation. For instance, instead of jumping in your car for lunch...find a place in walking distance.

Eat regularly and don't starve yourself. The most important thing is to speed up your metabolism and you can only do that by eating and exercising. Just eat the right foods, foods that have nutritional value!

Good luck!!!!!!!!!!!!
