I'm very very picky and very rarely fancy anyone, (I'm a lesbian so this obviuosly adds the the difficulty factor :-D)

I really really like a girl at work, I don'r know her very well at all and hardly get a chance to even speak to her because she works in a different department (in an open plan office.)

I'm also very shy with people I don't know... we are friends on facebook but she never goes on there (except some lunchtimes)

I do feel like I may have a tiny chance because we sometimes catch each others eye across the office etc and i think she is open minded, but i'm not sure.

How can I get to know her better without scaring her off or making an idiot of myself. I just want to find out if we have a spark and if she likes me?

Help?

A male reader, Dating Advice Guy United States +, writes (19 November 2009):

Try organizing an after work event like going to a bar. Invite a hand full of fun people in the office, and pretend to run into her in the office the day before and mention it to her. Be a little flirty and judge her reaction. If she joins you, that will be a hint that she might be interested, and will give you an opportunity to get to know her better over drinks. If she shows no interest, there will be on embarrassment. If you need any more advice, i'm answering questions at: http://www.creative-dating-ideas.com/relationship-doctor.html

Good luck!
