How can I ask my procrastinating BF to not put things off until the last minute?

A female United Kingdom age 41-50, anonymous writes:

Hi,

My boyfriend likes to put everything done in the last minute, and it annoys me.

We are having an appointment with our lawyer at the end of the year and for all the dates the lawyer is ok my bf chose 12/30, of course the lawyer rejected it and changed it to the 29.

I like to solve problems immediately or the next day. But everytime we have things done together he always like to put it in the last minute.

How do I confront him about this without fighting because I know nobody will be available on the 30th but he doesn't care about other's schedules.

Because it is actually not a big problem but it sometimes kills my patience!

petina1 agony auntUnfortunately he sounds like he's gonna be late for his own funeral. My partner of 30 yrs is the same, they don't usually change, it's all about being more organised than them. All you can do is try to bite your tongue or make all the dates yourself. I have three calendars at home, one for my work, one for the family and one in the kitchen. I'll bet he doesnt keep a calendar does he? You may have to re train him or catch him in a good mood and then let him know how frustrating it can be.
