HonningKanin agony auntGuys, we cant assume anything by what has been said alone.

It could mean something as simple as she would like a room where she can do whatever she wants in it(Privacy) to she is leaving him because she is unhappy in the relationship.

There is no other information here and we need background reasons for why it was said.

Dr.LanceMerryweather agony auntIt means it's over. Plain and simple. Sorry to sound so harsh and blunt but this has been my experience. No matter how your wife or anyone else here dresses it up - that is what it means.

Good luck.

A female reader, old-spinstah United Kingdom +, writes (29 November 2009):

I agree with honningkanin that we need more information. "I need space" could mean anything from needing a weekend away or a few evenings on her own all the way through to wnting to move out for 6 months or formally separate.

You also need to ask her what she means as it can mean different things to different people.

A female reader, Emilysanswers United Kingdom +, writes (29 November 2009):

It means she wants space.

She wants a bit of her own life to be her and not just MRS someone or MUM.

It all depends on the context really and since you don't give any more information it's hard to give any more help.

Good Luck!! xx
