Ex drunkenly told me he loved me 3 nights ago. We went out for a leaving do and i didn't drink. My ex kept looking at me all night. I hardly said a word, other than i can do better than him. He was sick on my car and he's coming to clean it tomorrow. I know he's seeing someone now who sent him a stroppy text giving him a hard time. Can i get him back? Why did he say he loved me when he was drunk. He always says what he means when he's drunk. I know he does still care for me. I do still love him very much!

A female reader, Carina South Africa +, writes (25 February 2007):

Carina agony auntIt seems to me you have nothing to lose by asking him. Sometimes people say things they don't mean when they're drunk because their judgement is clouded, but sometimes they tell the truth. The only way you can know for sure is to remind him of what he said, ask if he remembers saying it and if he meant it. If he did mean it then this will give him an opportunity to tell you. If he doesn't tell you when he's sober that he loves you then unfortunately it was just the drink speaking. Best of luck!
