Hi,

So my boyfriend has this female friend who is a lot younger than he is and has known her probably a couple of months before he met me.So this woman is trying to establish herself and is faring quite well and my boyfriend told me "I need to hang out more with her just in case she gets a promotion" so it would benefit him.First off I did not like the way he thought and felt it was stupid! What do you think?

Honeypie agony auntI agree dumbest excuse EVER to spend time with another woman. Unless they are on the same team and will be promoted AS A team the excuse is ridiculous. Even if she did get promoted, she probably can "pull" him with her, she would get a promotion because she showed she is capable of doing XYX, not because she hung out with Tom, Dick or Harry.

I think he presumes you are "dumb" enough to fall for that kind of BS, because I can't see a guy in his right mind use that excuse to his GF if he knows she is smart.

Thing is, you KNOW it's a stupid excuse, so why are you still with him? He isn't going to stop hanging out with her.

N91 agony auntWhy on earth would her getting a promotion benefit him?

That's one of the lamest excuses I've ever heard and wouldn't believe it for a second.
