A week ago I met a guy when i went to the pub with my mate. Since I met him we have practically spent every night together (watching films in bed, not like that) and I really really like him, he is such a sweet guy from what I know.

Anyways, last night we went out and he asked me to be exclusive, it seems soon but I said yes but still want to move slow just we won't be dating anyone else. Its his birthday this weekend and he asked me to go with him and all his friends drinking but I wouldnt be able to go home until 7am because of train times so i said you go with your mates and I will see you soon. I haven't talked to him since this morning so I texted him saying hope you enjoy but its been almost 2 hours and he hasn't text me back.

I feel really worried that he might have changed his mind about being with me, I am probably overreacting but I have been really hurt in the past and I don't want the same thing to happen.

Am I over reacting to the fact that he hasn't text me back? I feel like i sound crazy lol

Denise32 agony auntAt this point, I don't really see any reason why you can't send a text - or better yet, phone him - to ask how he enjoyed his birthday. Showing a little friendly interest won't hurt......if you feel relaxed and comfortable enough to do so, that is.

If he responds positively and suggests seeing you again to go out somewhere, all well and good. If not, well, you have only known him a week and haven't invested too much yet. Take it slow, in any case.

Good luck!

Thank you for your comment and yes you are right it is too soon, wayyy too soon, just when we were out last night my mate was winding us up asking when are we getting together didnt expect him to say yes, when are we lol, thought it would have freaked him out like it did me.

I really love spending to time with him and I would never bug him and he will never know how freaked out I am right now lol

I think that is my problem, when I date a guy I can't relax, I am very uptight and wish I could just chill with it, guess I have never really had a tidy boyfriend and don't know how to act or what should be the norm in a relationship progressing but yer it is soon and im going to cool it off with him :)

Thank you for the advice

Denise32 agony auntOkay, a couple of things:

1. It is MUCH too soon to be even thinking of being exclusive when you've only known one another a week! Continue to date and see how it goes, then maybe in three or four months (not sooner, mind!!) you can begin to think about exclusivity. Takes time to get to know one another - and you're both in the very, very early stages.

2. Yes, you are overreacting. If you recall, you told him to go ahead and enjoy his birthday with his friends, rememnber? He's taking you at your word and is out with them.

3. It's a big mistake to decide so early on that "I really, really like him." Doubtless he's a nice guy and you've both enjoyed the time you have spent together so far, but you "really really" don't know him, and by the same token he doesn't know you, either. So lower your expectations, relax, do the activities you enjoy; don't bug him; don't worry, and see what happens.
