Girlfriend in jail. How do I handle that we have to move out?

A male United States age 51-59, anonymous writes:

Girlfriend who has been living with me at my apartment for 5 months was arrested last month(drugs). Lease is up and all her stuff is here. I have been packing it up and cleaning the place to get the deposit back. So I have been there during odd times that I normally wouldn't have been.I have a lot of overtime. Two guys showed up at different times looking for her. Like they have been here before. I found drugs in her stuff and a brand of condoms we never used. Letters from her ex saying he was happy she was coming to visit. Also discovered evidence that she has been seeing 4 to 5 guys a month as a escort on her computer. Now I know why she didn't mind my long work days. All the time I have been helping her with her car repairs, her phone bills, etc. Flushed the drugs. Should I just leave the rest of her stuff at curb for garbage day. Leaving her only what she had with her when she got picked up. She has no car or family to help her. She won't get out till after I have moved. Threating to call her probation officer might keep her away from me. What would you do?

There could be more drugs left in her belongings that you've overlooked; and it's best you stay away from it.

Surely she must have some relatives that can come and pickup her things; but then again, you'd be placing them in legal-jeopardy, should there be hidden or stashed drugs somewhere you didn't bother to check. I'm surprised she got arrested without the cops turning your place upside-down/inside-out with a drug-sniffing canine! If they didn't bring you in; they must have been watching her for a longtime. It still seems pretty shoddy they didn't find what you found!

Your landlord probably wants you two out of there; and if he or she calls the cops after finding something illegal, it just might get pinned on you. Like Ivyblue says, call her probation officer. Move and don't give her your forwarding-address or goons might come looking for her where you live!

The property where she got busted gets tagged by the local police department as known for vice and a drug-bust. She was carrying-on her enterprise on those premises!

Don't get your scent and fingerprints all over that stuff; call the cops and have them take it off your hands. If there is anything someone in her unsavory-past comes looking for, you don't want it on you! I suggest you talk to a lawyer, and make sure you cover your ass!

I think you should pay her a visit tell her that you are moving out and ask her what to do with her stuff then simply disappear from her life without leaving an address behind.

Andie's Thoughts agony auntI’d put her stuff in storage in HER NAME for up to a month. Make sure the company knows you are only paying for the first month, then give them her details for ongoing payments. Contact her only to tell her where it is and such, tell her probation officer too. Then never contact her again, but check payments for the storage don’t keep coming out of your account.
