Compromise ! is a good way to sort this...but if it is only one sided and your girl will not meet half way, then i would still go. Both be fair but don't back down from your right of freedom.

 If you want to see your family for the holidays and she doesnt that's okay. You go see your family and she can see the people she wants to see.
If she is asking you not to go that is a different story, does it seem like she is asking you to chose, or is there something else she would prefer you to do.
If its a case of both wanting you both to spend time with each others families you may have to look at taking it in turns.

Your girlfriend should be more understanding as you have a right to go and visit your family and I dont see anything wrong in that. If she doesnt want to go with you for whatever reason then go alone. Hopefully the time apart from her will bring her to her senses. Ask her how would she feel if you didnt want to go with her to see her parents.
