 No, it shouldn't hurt. Try starting slow, just inserting one finger. Have him use some lube and be super gentle and slow. If you're nervous you're not going to be wet. I didn't know that I was truly "wet" until I had quite a bit of experience. What I thought was wet really wasn't. So try some lube next time and see if that helps. Also before he sticks anything in, try some clitoral action first until you're feeling very turned on.
