tennisstar88 agony auntYou could take a prenatal to prepare your body for a baby. Mainly what's important is the folic acid. Being anemic isn't going to affect your fertility. If you were diagnosed with hypothyroidism (an under-active thyroid) then that will affect your fertility.

You didn't get any fertility testing done yet. There's blood tests, a scan, and even a surgical procedure.

Don't fret over the irregular period too much. The ovulation tests will help. I have a friend that conceived with an irregular period and after she had the baby, her periods were normal!

i had the usual health test, i blood test that came back positive for a few things, like poor vitamin intake, anaemia and thyroids, that could be why i have irregular periods or even why don’t get them at all sometimes, according to my doctor once sorted neither should affect my fertility! Which i pray to god is true, other than that i seem to be fine.

I am getting the ovulation kit, which seems like a great idea, It just didn’t occur me!

Sageoldguy1465@ I already know what my doctor has to say, but each person has their own personal story to tell, or advice to give! That is why am I here. Asking!!!!!!!!!!!!!

tennisstar88 agony auntIrregular periods don't mean you're infertile. It means it's going to be harder to pinpoint your ovulation. I would stock up on ovulation tests and test everyday starting after the last day of your period. Which is cycle day 1.

What tests have you already had?

Give it 2 more months and contact your GP.

Sageoldguy1465 agony auntOP: May I "justify" myself a bit? I made a glib comment about your submittal because it seems clear to me that this is the kind of question that should be discussed between YOU and a OB/Gyn Doctor..... and NOT on/in a public - and, admittedly, an amateur - site such as this.

I hope you do end up with a great handle on your problem, and that all goes well with and for you, in the future...

Sageoldguy1465* i can tell you know nothing about ovulation or fertility, huh? if you don’t understand how having less periods can affect your fertility then don't answer my question, let women do it!

to everyone else i shall say thank you, i will get the ovulation kit, it sounds like a great idea, as i never know when am i gone start menstruation anyway. i never get the usual indications, breast soreness etc... which makes it hard for me to know, it has being a frustrating tide as i being trying for over 10 months now, and it never occurred to me before to get the ovulation kit simple because of my miss information.

i have had a few test done, to make sure i am physically ready to conceive but i have not yet done a fertility test, it scares me to find out. i hope for the best as we’ll try to not be in a hurry right now, i just wanted to hear from women who might be in the same predicament but still manage to conceive!

i am still on my mid 20s and to be fair, the irregular periods started about 4 years ago, it has not always being like this. So who knows, it might go back to normal. If everything is still like this in a few months, I will speak to my g’p.

an Merry Christmas to those who celebrate it, and a happy new year to all, (in advance)

Thanks again.

A female reader, tennisstar88 United States +, writes (12 December 2012):

tennisstar88 agony auntNo. Your cycle can range anywhere from 28-32 days and still be normal.

Not having a period for two months, can mean you're not ovulating. It can also be a sign of PCOS. Polycystic ovarian syndrome. Basically having more cysts than normal on your ovaries, thus causing potential infertility. Symptoms include excess facial hair, adult acne, overweight and trouble shifting the pounds, skipping periods, or not having one for months.

How long have you been trying to conceive? After 12 months, you can ask your GP to refer you to a fertility specialist for thorough testing.

When I was in my early twenties my monthly cycle was absolutely wonky lol and I now have family of three, two girls and one boy.. I'm nearing forty haha

So I agree with honey pie, get the ovulation kit, and have a word with your gp if your still worried..

Try not to worry ( know that's hard) relax and enjoy christmas who knows you may get a bigger surprise 9months later than you think.. If that's what your wanting...

Take care

A female reader, Honeypie United States + , writes (12 December 2012):

Honeypie agony auntI would talk to your doctor and maybe try a ovulation kit. The ovulation is more important then the frequency of your periods.

And if you are trying to get pregnant don't forget that 12 months may SEEM long but is the average most couples take before getting tested for infertility.
