Falling for a friend, but does he even care?

A female United Kingdom age 30-35, anonymous writes:

Ok, so I'm 17 years old, just finishing my first year of A-Levels. I first met this guy when I was 14. I've been totally into him since I met him but he's really popular and I'm quite shy. (He doesn't care about being popular just a lot of people like him). We've become friends over the past couple of years though I'm not in his friendship 'circle' he hangs out with in school. Anyways, I really really like him and I think we could be great together.

Some days the way he acts says he definitely likes me, other days it's like we're barely friends. When we bump into each other he's happy to see me, but when I try talking to him on the computer I don't even get a response. What is he playing at?

(He was in a long term relationship and broke it off in early March. He's been single since)

Do I tell him how I feel, or forget about him?

I'm really shy and self-conscious. Guys don't usually pay me any attention at all. All I know is one day last summer Me, my best friend, Him and his best friend spent almost a whole day together, just in the park in the sunshine and it was one of the best days ever. I can't help but long for days like that where it's just us two..

I've been going through the exact same thing! So I hope I can help.

If he's said to you that he likes you in that way then try and do a little flirting or something to show that you're into him too. Arrange for you guys to go to the park again, but just the two of you. Some guys prefer the girl to make the first move anyway!

Boy's have strange moods like that when you guys are tight but then like you dont know eachother. Its a combonation of him liking you and you reacting because you like him. He may not feel like he's ignoring you but because you like him so much you can feel it. If he looks happy to see you then yea he likes you!

Don't just forget about him, if he's ever even hinted that he likes you that enough to go for it. Ask him out, he's probably too shy to ask you. If it fails you can still be best friends and you can always try again later if you're not content with that ;)

Good Luck
