A female United Kingdom age 22-25, anonymous writes:

Right, I have had a male best friend for over 6 months now, but we both feel like it has been forever! in the first 2 months, we started flirting, texting 24/7, i got told he was a player by many people but i really liked him, so i just ignored them (even though i knew he was close to many many girls, but he was closest to me). Then, he asked me what i would say if he asked me out, i said 'No' because i was afraid that my friends would laugh at me because he was shortish + not that fit (but in my eyes he was!) and when he asked me why i would say no, i told him 'i dont want a relationship' I knew it was the wrong thing to do because i really liked him, but i get embarassed easily!

The thing is, he has been out with 2 of my close mates, flirts with all of them! Yet i still love the socks off of him! He just doesn't know:-/ He now goes out with a gorgeous girl who apparently he has always 'loved', i daren't ask him if he even ever liked me because those two are actually perfect for each other, even though 2 weeks ago she had another boyfriend and cheated on him by kissing my 'best lad mate', then dumped her boyfriend without telling him! A few months before this, I almost went out with his best mate, he was really happy for me! Until he told me his bes tmate never liked me, so we drifted apart, then i found out it wasn't true and we started arguing, but we are so called 'best mates' again!:-) So, I went on m.s.n. with him the other day, he took his shirt off, was flirting, showed me his 6pack, working out;-) Should he be doing this when he has a girlfriend? At this point, i dont really care if it means his girlfriend will be mad at him for it, i love him and cannot help it!

The thing is, everytime a girl drifts away from him or rejects him (lucky girls for even getting a chance!), he comes running back to me because he knows i will never leave him! he's the sweetest lad i have even known, ive told him that! he has no faults whatsoever to me and i dont think i even deserve him! I dont want him to get hurt, but he is the best thing that has ever happened to him! I dont want them to rush into things because we are young (under 16), but i know they wont break up for ages, last time they went out it was for over a year, i just cannot be heartbroken for that long because i dont want to get over him!. Please help me understand what is going on! I don't know what to do, i feel awkward talking to him, feel like he is going to forget me, any advice on what to do/say? If i tell him how i feel, he will tell him girlfriend + his best mate (just the sort of person he is...honest!) and then everyone will know...please help me!
