Does his conduct indicate that he likes me?

Question - (27 January 2012) 1 Answers - (Newest, 27 January 2012)
A male United States age 30-35, anonymous writes:

I'm the only out gay kid in my class, and one of two in the whole school. So there's this guy in two of my classes this year, but we also had summer school together. He knows I'm gay, as does everyone else, but he still like talks to me and "picks on" me... I don't know if it's like "mean, you're different"-picking on or "flrting"-picking on, but he never seems to say or do anything that actually hurts my feelings, and usually we're both laughing at the end.

Anyways, I don't really want to keep on liking him if its just going to be a wreck like my last guy (he abused me verbally and was sort of masochistic, but dependent on me to?)

I don't know what to do, like maybe this isn't even anything and he's just picking on me, cuz he's mean, or he just acts like that with everyone... But if he's interested... I don't even know, do I ask him, or try and "just be friends first"? Ugh please help, I don't want to get hurt so badly again...

A female reader, Read-the-signs United Kingdom +, writes (27 January 2012):

My impression is that this guy is a show-off and somewhat egotistical. Possibly he likes to think that you fancy him, just as he would like to think girls fancy him as well. Any behaviour that leads you to feel "picked on" cannot be a good thing. Make sure you are not just laughing along at your own expense. I feel that you should distance yourself from him and mix with people whose behaviour has only a positive effect on you.

All the best x
