Does he really think I'm not his type? Or is he lying? Or throwing me off?

A female United States age 30-35, anonymous writes:

I'm just really confused right now... Okay my friend told me that there was a boy who was just staring at me at this meeting in school, so I didn't think anything of it. But then he asked my other friend if I had a boyfriend, so I thought, he's interested. So I talked to him a couple times and he's really sweet and I love to tease him and joke around. But then he tells me one of his friends likes me...but I didn't think anything of it...So my friend happened to bring me up again one day in a conversation with him, and apparently he says I'm not his type! And my friend asked him, then why did you ask if she had a boyfriend? And he says he doesn't remember asking that. Ugh! Is he really serious? Does he really think I'm not his type? Or is he lying? Or throwing me off? Its sucks, I start to like him and then he doesn't like me.

A male reader, CaringGuy United Kingdom +, writes (20 July 2010):

You need to hear him say that you're not the one before you can do anything else. If he says that he's not interested, then you know the truth. But don't take anyone else's word for it. I'm not saying that your friend is not wrong, but be careful your friend isn't a little jealous. To to him about how he feels. Not anyone else.
