Does he love me or just like me as a friend?

I'm really close friends with this one guy. I'v known him for a really long time, and I sorta like him... alot. We're both muslim, so we can't date. So the other day was my birthday. I don't have a facebook, but one of my close friends posted on her facebook that it was my birthday today. Now this guy he told her to tell me "Happy birthday!! I love you. !" But he didn't just write it out. Since we're both muslim we both know arabic. So he wrote it in arabic, so my friend wouldn't be able to read it. I dont know if he meant it like a friendly love, or like love Love. I just don't know. I'm sorta hoping its love Love, but i just really don't know. Dose anyone have any advice. I dont know what to do. I'm so confused. :/
