To clear up the confusing answers:
There are two main types of pill that are prescribed, the "mini" pill and the "combined" pill.
The mini pill - also known as the "progestogen only" pill you take EVERY DAY you never stop. The combined pill you take one every day for three weeks and then have 7 days without taking any. This allows for your body to have a period. Read instructions to see what kind of contraceptive you have.
The pill can make periods shorter and lighter. With the mini pill especially, this can stop periods in some girls.
It should also be noted that the injection, implant and patch all use the progestogen hormone - exactly the same as is found in the mini pill.

When you are taking the pill, you take 21 then stop for 7 days. In this time, you will have a period. If you do not stop taking it, you will not have a period and some people choose to take two packs together like this if they are going on holiday or something and don't want to come on.
However, taking them constantly and never having a period is dangerous so don't do it. Speak to your doctor for more information and before you do anything.
Good luck

It can be dangerous to stay on the pill all the time without stopping it every few weeks for a week. If you do come off it when your period is due after a few weeks of taking it then you'll get your period after a few days.
