Hello,

Aunts and Uncles.

My question I suppose can be involved with a relationship. But as of now it's a question amongst just women. I want to know if anyone knows of any cons for the Mirenia IUD?

I'm due to have it out by Aug.13.11.

My issue is, I have heard many things about this. That replacing can mess up your uterus or not getting one could get me pregnant on the date of removal.

Just the yada yada stuff. I'm very scared to make any action. I plan on having more children in the future. I really do not want to effect my chances. Does anyone have any information or personal experience that they can share with me? They also say that the subject changes moods/thoughts/etc. If anything, that is very common sense since the hormones are no longer or being released. I wanted to know if it's worse after it's removed?

Please forgive me if I come off rudely in any way.

I would be very thankful for the advice you all could give. I'll be sure to do a follow-up and rate the answers accordingly.

Thank you for your time!

person12345 agony auntIf you don't replace the IUD then you can get pregnant if you don't use a barrier method of birth control. If you don't want to get pregnant you will need to use other methods of birth control immediately and should talk to your doctor about whether you need condoms if you have the new IUD placed the same day. There is no difference in risks or the way it feels to have an IUD replaced from having it placed the first time.

Getting the IUD removed is an extremely straightforward and simple procedure and poses absolutely no risk to your health. It is much riskier to leave an IUD in longer than it is effective. There is about as much risk in having it removed as in getting a pap smear and it's not painful in any way.

There is the potential for it to change your moods, but only to what they were before you had the IUD placed.
