 I strongly prefer shaven and if not that then well groomed. Maybe he feels that if you are doing it then he's going to have to put more effort into himself. I like a shaven girl but I keep well shaven for my gf too. It's a two way street and it's not fair for one person to do all the work so I think that he just doesn't want to do it himself.
