I don't see where the married bit plays a differencr? a glass of wine is always good for relaxing and getting in the mood. But more than that can get risky. 3 glasses of wine and my wife can transform into someone far from the girl I married, and 4 glasses she is snoring at me!! A half bottle of a really good wine is a good solution for all!

 Drunk is good, very wild, but there's always the danger of falling asleep, also you can get too lazy to try more interesting positions. You are however more likely to lose any inhibitions and want to try everything. Depends on how much you've had to drink. Sober is good, can be wild or sweet, no danger of falling asleep and different positions, touches and kisses are easier to achieve, might be less willing to be adventurous though.
Sex with love is always the best, married or not, drunk or sober. Drunk sex however leaves you more open to regrets when you remember doing things that disgust or humiliate you.

reader, anonymous, writes (2 March 2012): I'm not married but in a long term relationship of early 7 years and yes, drunk sex is amazing. "Better" is relative though OP. Is the drunken pounding session we have better than a gentle, sober love making session? Not really, I value them both. If all we had was wild drunken sex then I'd really miss the soft sensual sex we have. Plus I give better head when sober and she's more likely to fall asleep when receiving head while drunk hehe. I find receiving head is not great while drunk either, in fact foreplay while drunk is all but useless to us and we go straight into giving each other scrapes and bruises instead.
It's all a matter of personal preference. While sober we can have a nice long slow session of foreplay before we have intercourse, the sensations are far more profound when sober for us. Even the gentlest of touches is felt keenly. But while drunk we just want to pound and go nuts. For us the best thing about sex is variety, we need to wild drunken sex as much as we need the sober foreplay version.
