Im about to turn 18 and start college soon and i have this boyfriend and well i came to realize i dont think i like him anymore. Now this would be easy for me to break up with him but we been togetther for a while and he really loves me and has done noting wrong but i just dont feel for him no more. When i think i made up my mind to break up with him he tells me how much he loves me and will make it up to me and i think he even cried about the fact i might leave him.I dont know what to do am i just thinking about staying with him out of pity and sorrow or do i love him and if i do end it how without making him cry and really breaking his heart?

well i cant tell you if you love your boyfriend or not. but maybe you feel like your still young and would like to have a try of being single again. you should try saying to him that you feel that you should take a break for a while as you need to focus on going to college right now but also tell him you still really care for him and that you would be happy to maybe stay friends and see what happens in the future, if its meant to be then you will get back together.

possma agony auntG'Day!

I congratulate you on realising that this relationship has come to an end!

I'd really like to find out in what way does he really 'love you'? Love is a strange thing and it means friendship and companionship, laughter and enjoying the same type of things (with a bit of personal space in between).

Don't be too taken with what we might call 'crocodile tears' - in other words they are sometimes put there to make YOU feel guilty! For some reason, they think that WE cannot live without THEM! (You may find it's the other way round!) - lol

I believe you do feel that this relationship has 'sailed' it's course and you'll just have to "white light" yourself, take a deep breath and 'nicely' tell him it's over and be firm, but patient and understanding.

All the best.

Possma

hi there,

i was once in your situation, when you are younger and you dont understand love it is hard, you shouldnt take pity on him though if you think it is right thing to do then you should do it, it may hurt him very much but what would you rather do stay with some one who you dont love and hurt them even more or just talk to him and tell him u dont think of him in that way but you wouldnt mind being friends. I think it would be much better if you did this because the longer you leave it the stronger his feelings will get for you, and he will get more used to you being there. the thing you have to do though is think about it before you rush into anything, as they say you dont know what you have got until it is gone. my advise to you is to be strong and think carefully before you rush into things as you could make the situation alot harder for yourself and for your boyfriend x
