Could oral sex make a pregnancy test positive?

Question - (2 July 2010) 6 Answers - (Newest, 5 July 2010)
A male United States age 30-35, anonymous writes:

Just a little help needed. Today my girlfriend took a home pregnancy test with pregnancy stick and it came positive. She had symbols of pregnancy such as constant precum leakage from vagina and cramps in legs and tummy from last 15 days. It all started the day after a fully protected sex when the condom was on and never split. This day was about 16 days ago. Before that sex, we had sex about 20 days back but that was also protected. That makes a total of 36 days from today. She has missed periods and today is the 12th day of her period but she has no sign of periods.

My questions:

1. The symptoms that appeared after last sex, were those from the 1st sex or just some hormonal changes?

2. When you have oral with your girl, does the amount of pregnancy hormones increase in urine? I am asking because we had oral today and 3 hours later, she took the test. Maybe the oral might have played a role in the test to come positive.

3. How much tests should we further take to be sure?

4. Could she have become pregnant by swallowing some of my precum during sucking?

5. Now is there some tablet that we can use to abort the pregnancy? If so which is it and what is the usage?

Ravenxx91 agony auntOral sex has nothing to do with it.

If the test came back positive then it means it picked up HCG (a hormone) in her urine - this is nothign to do with testosterone, oestrogen or progesterone...HCG comes from an foetal placenta. If she is pregnant then there was either a time she has had unprotected sex or there was a rip or hole in the condom.

As for abortion dont pressure her into one cause its what you want. talk to her about it. If you both want an abortion then go to a doctor or clinic.

A female reader, EbonyBlossom United Kingdom +, writes (3 July 2010):

EbonyBlossom agony auntOral sex shouldn't affect the result as that would make pregnancy tests very unreliable. If you want an abortion you have to go to an abortion clinic where they will either give her a pill to miscarry the baby, or surgically remove it, depending on how far along in the pregnancy she is. I have four possible solutions as to why she could be pregnant:

1. the test was incorrect

2. there was a tiny hole in the condom, either put there on purpose or by accident

3. you are not the father

4. it is a phantom pregnancy

I would suggest you get her to take two more tests, try and find the condoms and examine them for holes, google phantom pregnancy and see a doctor, then if all that fails, sit her down and ask her if she's been with anyone else. I know that isn't what you want to hear but it is still possible. Investigate all of those possibilities =]

A female reader, Tisha-1 United States +, writes (2 July 2010):

Tisha-1 agony auntA little help? That's an understatement.

1. A physician would have to answer this question. I don't know.

2. It's extremely unlikely that the components of semen would contain pregnancy hormones, unless you have some very unusual physiology, and at any rate, the stomach acids and digestive processes would break down the semen as it does food that is ingested as well.

3. Did you read the instructions on the test? Don't they normally suggest first urine of the day? You could try another one tomorrow. It likely will not change the outcome though.

4. You cannot become pregnant by swallowing sperm.

5. A physician would have to examine her and provide abortion services to her. You cannot purchase the drug over the counter and she would need to be under a physician's care in case of problems anyway. There has to be blood tests and/or ultrasounds to make sure the abortion is complete.

I see that you are probably really afraid that she is pregnant; I hope some of the information I have provided is helpful to you. Best wishes.

A female reader, wordsoffaith United States +, writes (2 July 2010):

wordsoffaith agony auntOk, Well for the first question, I can not really say for sure if it was a hormonal change because of sex, so I don’t think I'll be any help on that one.

The second question, having oral sex has nothing to do with the pregnancy hormone. NOTHING! You only produce those hormones when you are pregnant, not when you are doing oral.

Three question, She should go to her OBGYN and they will test her to confirm if she is pregnant or not.

Four question, again NO she is not able to get pregnant by swallowing your cum. The acid in the stomach will destroy all of your sperm.

Fifth question, again I am no help here either. She can talk to her OBGYN about this and they will point her in the right and SAFE direction.

Good Luck!

LLindy87 agony auntjust because you used protection doesn't mean she's automatically protected from pregnancy. Oral sex doesn't increase a positive result.
